Computer network training covers several areas in the information technology (IT) industry. You can train to work for the government, corporations and small businesses or begin your own business. Training consists of both book work and hands on learning in a class room. The options include specialized training centers like Alliance Training and Solutions, colleges, universities and small business settings.

Computer networking is the linking two or more computers or devices together. The configuration for networking in an office might consist of a server with printers attached and individual computers connected to the server, for example.

Computer network training involves attending classes consisting of beginner to advanced classes. The beginner classes include learning terminology, equipment and uses for networking. Advanced classes prepare you for developing complicated infrastructures.

Computer network training offers certifications in CompTia Networking, Linux+ and Cisco, for example, that consists of wireless network, design assistant and voice networking. Microsoft certification for computer networking includes system engineer and system administrator. Sun and Nortel offer similar certifications.

Once you achieve your certification you can either work for a company or start your own IT (information technology) business. There are opportunities to work with the federal, state and local government as network investigators and systems engineers.

Requirements

You will need to have a basic understanding of computers and components. You do not have to have any other special skills, but a willingness and desire to succeed.
